The Transition PARVATHY VENKATESH, CLASS IX

Our lives were normal as ever,

We were always on the go,

Working, studying, energetic as always,

That is, almost ten months ago.

Along came a disease so ghastly,

A terrible virus had spread around,

From a common cold to a wheeze so severe,

That for the stars many were bound.

Day by day as the number surged,

Hospitals flooded with patients galore,

Cases of the contagious ‘Coronavirus’

With doctors serving at the frontline of this war,

Now as I walk the streets,

People recognise me not,

For the opaque veils covering the mouth,

Seems to hide people’s thoughts

The distance of six feet,

Is too much to maintain,

As this disease spreads from droplet to person,

Like a speedy aeroplane

The news has reached,

For institutions a shutdown,

Cases of unemployment everywhere,

At this rate, the economy will sink and down

Now everything we do,

We do sitting at a computer,

From classes to celebrations,

This could alter our life forever!

Despite all this, we must remain vigilant,

We must see this through the end,

For who will tell our descendants,

Of this disease we have had to fend?
